CORPORATION CONDUCT AND ETHICS

The AMERICAN CITIZENRY INSTITUTE (hereinafter referred to as "Corporation") is committed to the highest standards of business conduct in our relationships with each other and with our members, business associates, and others. This requires that we conduct our business in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and in accordance with the highest standards of business ethics.

Our business conduct and ethics applies to all Corporation Trustees, Officers, Directors, Employees, Contractors, and Corporation Staff (hereinafter referred to as "Corporation Associates") wherever situated. The Corporation shall always abide by applicable law in the state, county, city, municipality, or other location where it conducts business. In the event of a conflict of law or a conflict of policy as set forth in the Corporation's Articles of Incorporation, it's Bylaws, this statement, or any other official policy of the Corporation, a determination shall be made by resolution of the Board of Trustees (hereinafter referred to as "Board). In the event of an emergency situation, the closest prevailing Corporation Trustee shall determine the appropriate course of action and will notify the Board as soon as practical.

Meeting Our Shared Obligations

All Corporation Associates are responsible for knowing and understanding Corporation rules, regulations, and policies contained in Corporation documents. If Corporation Associates have questions, they must ask them; if they have ethical concerns, they must raise them. Any member of the Board including all Corporation Officers are responsible for overseeing and monitoring compliance with Corporation rules, regulations, and policies, and they shall always be available to answer questions and provide guidance regarding suspected misconduct. Corporation Associates conduct should reflect the Corporation's values, demonstrate ethical leadership, and promote a work environment that upholds the Corporation's reputation for integrity, ethical conduct and trust. To that end, both Corporation and Corporation Associates must:

  • Understand and make a personal commitment to the Corporation's rules, regulations, and policies.

  • Lead by example, complying with the letter and spirit of Corporation policy by always doing what is right, even when the alternatives seem easier or more expedient.

  • Ensure that we do not put our own interests ahead of the Corporation's when performing our jobs, under color of authority, or by using any information acquired through those positions, for any non-Corporation purpose.

  • Conduct all work and business affairs lawfully and with integrity.

  • Provide the teaching and guidance necessary to ensure understanding of, and compliance with, the Corporation's rules, regulations, and policies for those Corporation Associates in our groups, departments, divisions, or organizations.

  • Seek assistance, guidance or interpretation on difficult ethical and legal issues from a member of the Board, your supervisor, or an appropriate source.

  • Report incidents of suspected unethical or unlawful conduct to any member of the Board, your supervisor, or any other appropriate person.

  • Take prompt, appropriate corrective action when an allegation of wrongdoing is substantiated.

  • Create a work environment that encourages frank, open and constructive communication on all business matters, including allowing everyone to ask questions, make suggestions and report errors and wrongdoing without fear of reprisal.
